about

About me

Tomas Corrales Lantero, Madrid 1960. He studies economics and soon combines his work in the film industry

with his vocation for painting.

The family environment facilitates frequent visits to museums and galleries where the progression of the schools is absorbed in a natural way

and movements in painting from the 70s and 80s.

Before, during and after. Also of the rationalist architecture.

All this trains your gaze.

Currently he paints mainly in acrylic on supports made of different materials.

July 2019,  exhibition at "Km 17" in Ibiza.

In September  In 2017 he exhibited his series "Pin tura" at the El Cock cocktail bar in Madrid.

In December 2021 he exhibited his work series "Salón tras Covid" at the Egam gallery in Madrid.

In June 2021 he exhibited his series "Eses" at the EspacioMados gallery in Madrid.

In July  From 2021 he exhibits his series "Cardboard and cutter" in Madrid as well.

We split an orange in two, and there it is. Tomas folds, hides, dives and reaches into the pulp to extract all the color.

There is fruit, there are screens that separate people, hoarse voices that are clarified with hot coffee, and the sun king.

Tomas paints his eses with devastating joy, what is behind each curve is something simple and precious: talent!

After a long zoomorphic trajectory of characterization, Tomas Corrales surprises us with this painting of aerial and cerebral planning.

In my opinion, it surpasses the two-dimensional geometric abstraction to enter into the representation of the transformations and new organizations of our media. The ortho-circular paths of high and medium intensity and an almost vegetal presence are accentuated in their encounters with unexpected embankments.

Later, the curvilinear questions of each day are superimposed on the resources of reason. Burle Marx, Buchanam and so many oriental layouts are coming…. The whole mind.

Tomas's work is a window into the world of creativity. A look of light and color. Tomas Corrales does not look in the mirror. Go through the mirror with capital letters. Inner world ... The organic and the geometric are one in his work. A universe of color and light.  Geometry and planes where the symmetrical is asymmetric. A kite that learned to fly high from his hand on the breeze.

Each painting is a frame of that constant inner world. That is art and therefore you have to sit and observe. The work of Tomás cannot be explained, the organic is the here and now in Tomás.  A work like this is not built in one day, or two or three.  It is not a whim. It is an original work of art that does not lie ...  authenticates. Seeing through the mirror and not looking into it,  few know how to do it!  Few do…. Tomás knows how to do it.

It is the best I have seen in a long time .... It is worth sitting down for a long time to enjoy this clear work. Shapes and color….

The painting of Thomas  it has sinuous, playful, smiling labyrinths, sensitive to any eye that observes it and shows a long-gestated multidisciplinary language along with an architectural imprint. From the forms it is carried away by a constant freedom of movement that characterizes the hand of its author.

"Eses": Plural of free, organic curves that fold into an allegory of abstract elegance.

This repertoire supposes a shared solitude; Each of the pieces has its encounter with a common cadence to the harmony of all, creating a stimulating walk of forms and chromaticism.

Abstraction, geometry and the organic overlap in layers.

The S distributes energy in space aided by the orbits of the circle.

The drawing emerges; eyes, looks.

Quantum tries to explain it.

In any place, things appear and settle, almost alone ... They are revealed by the light, the look. Through the cracks in my bedroom blind, the light seeps  and casts and draws shadows; light and dark.  They are objects,  beings, landscapes that painting will bring out of the subconscious. The gaze reveals, like chemists in photography,  shapes on the wall already drawn by nature.

Automatic painting, .... to Franco Battiato.
